On Sept 14, Governor Hu Heping met with the delegation led by Bob Baldwin, the Chair of the Organizing Committee of Australasia China City Summit & Royal Melbourne Exposition in Xi’an. Shaanxi provincial Secretary-general Chen Guoqiang also attended the meeting.

Governor Hu remarked that since the conclusion of Free Trade Agreement between China and Australia, the cooperation between Shaanxi and Australia has made remarkable progress. In March 2017, the China-Australia Year of Tourism, the value of cooperation agreements signed at China (Shaanxi)-Australia Economic and Tourism Cooperation Promotion Conference held in Sydney exceeded USD 70 million, indicating a promising future for bilateral cooperation. At the UNWTO 22nd General Assembly held in Chengdu, the topic of tourism along the Belt and Road has attracted wide attention. Shaanxi, as the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and with abundant historical, cultural and natural attractions and resources, is accelerating the development of all-for-one tourism and international tourism cooperation. Bob Baldwin and the delegation came all their way to Shaanxi to participate the event of “Australian Tourists Visiting Shaanxi” and conducted tourism promotion and business talks, which brought unparalleled cooperative opportunities. Hopefully both sides will, relying on the direct flight from Xi'an to Sydney and Melbourne, promote tourism, trade and culture exchanges for overall practical cooperation in agriculture, industry and science & technology.

Bob Baldwin remarked that the visits between Shaanxi and Australia have laid a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation and varied in-depth cooperation in tourism, agricultural technology and projects in the future.
