100 HK Students Participate in “the Belt and Road” Seminar in Shaanxi

“I really felt about the development and change in our motherland in this precious learning experience.” Students from Lok Sin Tong Leung Kau Kui College, Hong Kong exclaimed after they participated in the flag raising ceremony in the High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University. When the flag was rising and the national anthem was sung, “the Belt and Road” Seminar kicked off for the 120 students and teachers from Lok Sin Tong Leung Kau Kui College, Lok Sin Tong Leung Chik Wai Memorial School, and Semple Memorial Secondary School in Hong Kong.

“The Belt and Road” Seminar for Hong Kong students was started in Shaanxi in 2015. Deng Haidong, the head of the Seminar and vice president of the Provincial Overseas Friendship Association said that the seminar was organized to deepen Hong Kong students’ understanding to the historical culture of the motherland and the importance of the construction of “the Belt and Road”, and to strengthen their sense of belonging and national pride through education in patriotism.

“The long history of the ancient City Wall is very impressive.” A student said after their visit, and a teacher added, “Shaanxi not only has a long history and a profound cultural background, its aerospace industry is also very advanced, as many of its modern achievements are worth visiting and learning from”.

The seminar members also listened to themed lectures on “the Belt and Road”. During their stay in Shaanxi, they would visit the Museum of Terra Cotta Warriors, Sima Qian Temple, Huashan Mountain, the High Speed Railway Control Center of Xi’an North Railway Station, the Han Dynasty Chang’an City Ruins Reserve, etc.
